1/17/2024 0 Comments James gunn lollipop chainsawI’m betting Lollipop will be more than panty shots and gore with his involvement. Gunn wrote movies such as Super, Slither and the screenplay for the Dawn of the Dead remake–all films I enjoy. I don’t expect Lollipop to be the Citizen Kane of videogames but I’m really looking forward to it. There won’t be any families or anything like that keeping the two love-birds apart, just zombies and Nick’s lack of a body below his severed neck. In the place of Romeo is Juliet’s (Lollipop’s Juliet) boyfriend Nick. Juliet’s origins stemmed from Shakespeare’s own Romeo and Juliet, but you know, more boobs and stuff. It seems the idea came to Suda during a zombie death fantasy where rainbows shot out of a zombie rather than blood if only I could use one of my crazy ideas as a springboard for an entire game. Have a fondness for one song in particular or sick of hearing one of the others? Swap them out at will and create the musical experience you want! This is an interesting mechanic and one I'd like to see explored more in other games. In a recently released behind the scenes video of Lollipop Chainsaw, creative director Suda 51 and writer James Gunn discuss the origins of the concept behind Lollipop Chainsaw. One interesting aspect of the game is that you can buy additional songs in the in-game store and customize the background music in any way you like. The songs all create a wonderful backdrop that beautifully matches the mood and atmosphere of the overall game perfectly and serves as a great compliment to the over the top action taking place on the screen. On the other end of the spectrum is all the original music which is absolutely amazing. 'To add my two cents, like James Gunn says. He began making 8mm films at the age of twelve. James Gunn is the primary creative force for the. He has been writing and performing as long as he can remember. Suda 51 IS NOT developing/making Lollipop Chainsaw Hes the producer and an admittedly absent one at that. ![]() His father and his uncles were all lawyers. He is from a large Catholic family, with Irish and Czech ancestry. ![]() Louis, Missouri, to Leota and James Francis Gunn. The same applies for "Mickey" and the various other licensed songs. Suda, who co-wrote Lollipop Chainsaw with Gunn and oversaw the game as creative director, also chimed in to confirm that neither of them is involved. James Gunn (II) James Gunn was born and raised in St. Hearing the requisite song "Lollipop" as performed by the Chordettes is neat the first few times you open the in-game store but gets very old very fast. The game features an interesting mix of original music as well as licensed songs all of which are used to varying degrees of success. The story is pretty absurd and over the top throughout, and the game is constantly aware of and commenting on this fact. In an interview with Collider, Gunn talked about his filmmaking process, and one of the questions that came up was in regards to Harley’s hallway fight. You see, Juliet comes from a family of zombie slayers, so this is just another day for her. Using her chainsaw she chops off his head to save him, rationalizing her ability to do this as being magic. Without missing a beat she leaps off her bike and pulls a pink chainsaw out of the duffel bag she was carrying and proceeds to start slaughtering, intent on meeting up with her boyfriend.īefore long she does indeed meet up with him although, unfortunately, too late, and he gets bitten by a zombie. Juliet Starling is riding her bike to school on the morning of her birthday when she realizes that the road ahead is infested with zombies. In true James Gunn fashion, this works out perfectly and serves as a brilliant compliment to the game itself. Bizarre explanations are given as if they're something you should have known and are nothing out of the ordinary. The story receives little to no setup, leaving you scratching your head right off the bat as to what's going on, but things are shrugged off left and right. ![]() Lollipop Chainsaw is a game that knows from the beginning exactly what it is.
